Volunteer Handbook
What Can Volunteers Do?
Volunteers perform important roles within the school, enriching regular programs and classroom situations while sharing their unique abilities, interests and valuable time with teachers and students.
Volunteers exemplify community participation in our schools by extending services, which can include:
1. Accreditation Committee, see Cindy Palacios for details
2. Field Trip Drivers and/or Chaperones (Washington DC, Sacramento, Ironwood, Alpine Trips).
3. Resource or special projects tasks (sharing experiences, skills and hobbies with students to broaden the scope of the curriculum) – assist teacher in specific areas of need or provide special information or skills from your own expertise, knowledge of experience on a one-time basis or occasionally as needed. Areas could include library and computer assistance.
4. Clerical tasks – aide with filing, duplicating, or general organizational activities to assist with teacher’s or staff’s paper workload.
5. Assisting in various activities of the school.
6. Act as a Room Parent to organize classroom activities and special events.
7. Work with our active PTF to provide additional fundraising and social events throughout the school year.
• Harvest Festival
• Silent Auction
• Book Fair
• Grandparents Day
• Teacher Appreciation Week
• International Day
8. Aide in supervising students at lunch time.
